Casa do Portal is a traditional Galician manor house, beautifully restored and nestled in a stunning landscape. Everything in the house has been carefully considered, down to the last detail. We went with the children, and although it rained, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Tita and Asun were incredibly kind and attentive to our every need. From the house, you can easily explore all of Galicia; it's the perfect base for exploring! We hope to return in the summer to enjoy the garden. Thank you so much for everything!

We spent some unforgettable days at A Casa do Portal in August and can confirm that all the reviews are true, and perhaps even understate the experience. To add something new, the house, which from the outside might seem like just another house in the area, truly hides a gem. The original granite construction is showcased, along with reclaimed stonework pieces such as window and door surrounds and lintels, the impressive hearth and chimney, oven doors, and even a latrine. Granite has been used in the areas required for functionality, while the remaining walls are finished with plasterboard. The overall effect contrasts the white and gray of the granite in the style of the early works of the Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura. All of this, combined with the spacious rooms and the careful execution and selection of materials, makes living in this house a truly memorable experience. Attached to the original house is a structure with a wooden roof that houses a large kitchen with views of the surrounding area. I will never forget my evenings spent cooking, marveling at the sunsets over the Arousa Estuary. Last but not least, for lovers of Galician woodlands, I recommend walking the riverside path along the Maneses River, several kilometers of gallery forest where old granite mills still stand. Thank you, Asun and Gonzalo, for this refuge.
