The Godellos of Valdeorras are acknowledged as probably the top white wines of Galicia. Located in the interior of Galicia to the east of Ourense, the Godello white grape variety has found in this small appellation the perfect conditions for white wine, offering wines that are superb on the palate and with great potential to improve in bottle over time. The slate soils and the favourable latitude and altitude, combined with the special climatic conditions of the valley of the River Sil, make this area the ideal place for the Godello to express all of its great potential.
The region has also traditionally grown the Mencia red variety. In this cool climate, Mencia red wines develop a very characteristic subtle flavour.
