Pazos de Lusco Bodegas
Galicia
The winery is a modern building, which caters for tourists and ecotourism, encouraging visitors to visit the naturally beautiful vineyards and sample the white wine whilst they are in Galicia. These are some of the most esteemed regions for grape growing in the world.
The Pineiro Farm owns the vineyards for the Lusco winery and uses a combination of historical techniques such as the pergola walkways for the vines and the advances of technology to grow the perfect grapes. In total there are six hectares of vines running from the mountains to the banks of the River Mino.
There are four different types of grapes : Albariño, Mencia, Godello and Tight Weevil planted across six different areas of land. Each varies slightly in soil condition and so allows variations in taste. Although all of the wines produced here are characteristically fruity and aromatic.
The process is slow but the care for the grapes is rigorous and in keeping with terroir, the philosophy of organic growth interacting with the genetic make up of the grapes. Wine in Galicia is considered to be a branch of Spanish gastronomy rather than just a simple tipple!
