  • Cross the medieval bridge over the Tambre river
  • See the Spanish coastline's first electric lighthouse
  • Feel the sea breeze in Muxía, on an old pilgrimage route
  • Explore Finisterre, the 'End of the World'
  • Discover the dramatic waterfall of Ézaro

Description

The first stop is at Ponte Maceira, a small town near Santiago de Compostela and an obligatory stop for pilgrims who continue their journey towards the 'end of the world'. Wander around this charming little town, best known for a 14th-century bridge over the Tambre river. Admire the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside as well as a beautiful set of medieval mills. Continue on the coast, where you will find one of the most spectacular lighthouses in Europe, the Vilán Cape Lighthouse. Head inside to visit a small museum about the lighthouse's history. From the cliffs outside you will be able to feel the wind and see a rocky outpost that caused many skipwrecks.   On the other side of the bay is the next stop on the tour, Muxia. Here there is a beautiful sanctuary beside the Atlantic ocean, as well as three stones considered sacred by the local Galicians. The next point on the tour is Cape Fisterra, or Finisterre for the Greeks or Romans, who considered this 'the end of the world'.  There you will discover what was believed to be the most western point in Europe, as well as kilometer zero of the Camino de Santiago. In the town of Fisterra, you will have free time to buy lunch and to walk around the town and the fishing port. On the route back to Santiago, the route skirts the coast until Ézaro. There you will see how the Xallas river falls into the sea forming a waterfall, the Ézaro waterfall, probably the most famous in Galicia.
