I had the full menu for dinner. The starting cocktail was fun. The oyster tartar was just a mashed bit of something which didn't seem to be related to an oyster. It also was rather warm, which I found odd. I usually complain about dishes like this coming out too cold, but this was the opposite. Which continued on with the three other starters. They were okay, the shrimp probably the best, but generally started any acid dimension or profound flavors. The grilled onion was good... but flavors could have been more interesting. Enjoyed the mackerel as I always do. The sea bream was a bit over-cooked and also needed more flavor. Loved the pea soup .. nicely done. The goat was rather gamey, a strong flavor... maybe an old goat? Definitely not pleasant. The first desert was very interesting, enjoyed it. The little three after that were also good. The petit four that followed not so much. Overall, not a truly exciting meal, and definitely not for the price.
Great long tasting menu, focused mainly on seafood and products from the Galician rías, with a clear taste of the sea in almost every dish. The cheeses and wine were also excellent, though if you are not a big cheese fan, one of the desserts may not be for you. What stood out most was the level of preparation in the dishes, quality, along with the outstanding attention from Yayo and Ester, the sommelier.
We had a truly wonderful experience at Yayo Daporta. It strikes that perfect balance of high-end cuisine served in a relaxed atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, Esther looked after us with such warmth and friendliness—she truly made us feel welcome. The food was everything we hoped for and more, offering a deep dive into the flavors of Galicia traditional food. A few dishes absolutely blew us away: the crujiente de algas was stunning, and their interpretation of the centollo and cigala croqueta was delicious. The cocido was also a massive highlight. To top it off, the wine pairing was excellent, featuring a thoughtful mix of local, regional, and international labels. This was the first Michelin star experience for our two teenagers, and I couldn't have imagined a better place. The combination of world-class food and a welcoming, unstuffy vibe made it a memory they’ll cherish. An absolute gem in the heart of Cambados. We can’t wait to return!
