At a glance
Located on Rúa Viñas da Babilonia in Santa Cruz, A Coruña, Casa Calixto is a unique dining establishment where the culinary philosophy focuses on the inherent purity of the seafood it offers. This restaurant takes pride in its dedication to showcasing the natural flavors of the sea without unnecessary adornments. The menu revolves around three key elements: line-caught fish, shellfish straight from the shell, and a specially curated selection of coastal wines.
The seafood is expertly prepared over live oak embers, a technique that enhances its natural texture and flavor. Diners can expect each piece of fish to be cooked with meticulous care, ensuring the authentic taste of the sea is preserved. Shellfish such as oysters and clams are opened fresh on the grill and served in their natural juices, emphasizing their pristine marine flavors.
Casa Calixto’s wine cellar is carefully curated to complement the strong, smoky notes of the grilled seafood. Featuring Atlantic whites and characteristically salty reds, the wines enhance the dining experience by pairing perfectly with the dishes.
The atmosphere at Casa Calixto is one of understated elegance, offering a welcoming setting for those who appreciate the simple, yet powerful flavors of the sea. The ambiance is intimate, making it well-suited for small gatherings or a special dining occasion.

Craving sea food? Casa Calixto is the one restaurant you do not want to miss when in A Coruña. Menu is made everyday based on fresh arrival : follow the staffs suggestion, you will not be disapointed. Everything is cooked to perfection. No extra fancy or fusion sauce there, simple but high quality ingredients that make each plate a feast. For dessert, take the flan ! Reach of flavor, it will make you melt ! Reservation highly recommanded
Myself with family have had three fantastic meals (years apart) at Casa Calixto. Run by two older Spanish men and a wonderful female chef. This time - another perfect meal - percebes, scallops and sea bass shared in a typically Spanish dinner between three. It’s not a cheap dining option, but it’s well worth it. We’ve never seen it busy (good to book on the day) and it’s a hidden gem. We love practicing our Spanish/sign language too!
