Restaurante O Grelo is superbly located in the heart of Monforte de Lemos perched near the top of the hill which was a castle (San Vicente) and now houses the Parador. The owner, Emilio Rodríguez who is also a distinguished wine maker, and his team will guarantee you a very warm, relaxed welcome. The restaurant is simply furnished, but cosy, to create an intimate atmosphere.
The restaurant offers a range of hot and cold starters, fresh fish, meats, and game, not forgetting the home-made desserts. Vegetarians can also enjoy a choice of dishes. Expect Iberian cured meats, peppers, pates, asparagus, octopus, traditional Galician pie and seafood croquettes to start. For main courses, a selection of fresh fish including hake, monkfish and cod is available. Meats include sirloin steak, roasted ribs, wild boar and venison. The game includes duck, quail and pheasant. The dessert menu is extensive and inventive, using quality Galician products like nuts and chestnuts.
The wine list is superb, with all wines being of Spanish origin, including the excellent Don Bernardino, the fruits of Emilio's very own winery.
Restaurante O Grelo also provides a takeaway service, caters for groups and provides space for various events.
