Description

The tour begins at Pozo da Aguada, opposite the Tourist Office, where you will meet your local guide. Starting from the seafront promenade, you will enjoy views of Mount Boi and the Monterreal Fortress, now operating as a Parador de Turismo Hotel.

You will uncover how Baiona received news of the Discovery of America through La Pinta, one of Christopher Columbus’ ships. The coast’s history also includes invasions by pirates and corsairs such as Francis Drake.

The route continues past the Virgen de la Roca statue, which stands 15 meters tall, and the house of Pedro Madruga, an important figure in Baiona’s history. The tour proceeds through the old town’s narrow streets, passing significant buildings like Casa do Perdón (The House of Forgiveness) and following part of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

The tour concludes back at the promenade near the statue of King Alfonso IX, after approximately two hours of sightseeing.
