Belas Artes Museum
Galicia
The Belas Artes Fine Art Gallery (Belas Artes Museum) is permanently full of globally renowned pieces and also has work regularly lent to it from the Prado Museum in Madrid for exclusive exhibitions. A local tip is to go to the museum early afternoon as it does not close for a siesta like many of the other places in La Coruña, so makes it the perfect place to drop in whilst everyone else is resting.
The museum contains over 5000 different pieces, with a room dedicated to the engraving work of Goya, as well as less known Galician painters from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. However this museum is not just about paintings. There are also sculptures, engravings and decorative craftsmanship such as Sargadelos ceramic work, which also has a separate room.
One of the pieces you should not miss is Picasso's 'Woman in The Hat'. The Belas Artes is generally about contemporary pieces, more than just ancient oil paintings. So it is a perfect destination for anyone with an interest in this area.
The Museum has a shop as well as a libray and a list of publications.
