I can with all the expectations as it is supposed to be the best restaurant in Muxia. I will start with the Very Good, the service was attentive and very fast - which is uncommon and parents with young children know this can be a burden. The atmosphere, tables, etc is Excellent. The bad, the food. The first tapa of black rice with AliOli was the best of our dinner. We had an Octopus with Sea Urchin cream, it was just ok, the sea urchin was mixed with a cream so not really appreciated in any sense. The worst; the rice / paella de mariscos. I had very high expectations with this and it was the worst rice/paella I ever had in my life. I was hard or undercooked, it tasted too much to tomato and you could feel the acidity of it. The dessert was a baked cheesecake , it was good. We were asked for bread (2 adults and 2 kids) we were served bread, and we were charged 1.5eu x4 That was an overall charge of 6eu, I am local and use to see now bread being charged but 6eu was on the “taken advantage” side. For the price and the bad experience of the paella I would not recommend this place. It was a shame as it was our only night in Muxia and this didn’t create a good culinary experience.
Not only for seafood…. A local find for a delicious steak! We walked in early-ish (8:45 p) for dinner, and they seated us without a reservation, but let us know that they would need the table by 10/ 10:15 PM. (tip: make a reservation if you want to dine after 9 PM!). We ordered one salad and two steaks to split between three women and ended up taking about a third of the meat home. They seared and sliced the steak in the kitchen to a rare finish and then provided a table top skillet to further cook the slices to our individual tastes (they lowered the vent hood over our table to handle the smoke. ) The beef was some of the best I’ve tasted! wine by the glass included a scrumptious Rioja. Some neighboring tables ordered fish, which also looked fresh and divine. 100% recommended.
We tried Pecebes (barnacles) and zamboriñas. They were delicioso! Highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back!
An absolutely fantastic experience at Lonxa d’Alvaro in Muxía. The food was exceptional, fresh, authentic, and beautifully prepared. Every dish felt like it was made with real care and pride. What truly set this place apart was the service. The staff were warm, attentive, and went completely out of their way to help us by finding a charging cable when we were in a bind. That level of kindness and hospitality is rare. The atmosphere was equally incredible. Relaxed, welcoming, and full of character, exactly the kind of place you hope to discover while travelling through Galicia. Easily one of the highlights of our time in Muxía. Highly recommended.
