NB Still to be confirmed. The night of the 23rd to the 24th of June marks the highpoint of “magical Galicia”, when the sentiments of its people join forces with nature more strongly than at any other time of the year. Thousands of bonfires are lit on Riazor beach, A Coruña or in the various districts that make up the city that is home to the Tower of Hercules Lighthouse. Families and groups of friends dance around the fires and share a feast of roast sardines and boiled potatoes known as 'cachelos'. The festival is celebrated throughout Galicia and the rest of Spain to celebrate the longest day of the year (Summer Solstice) which actually falls on 21 June. This is one of the biggest fiestas in Galicia and is now of national importance.
