Start your tour at a 19th century park located close to the Old Town known as Parque da Alameda. A large variety of ornamental trees and shrubs can be seen here. It is built on the land that was donated by Rodrigo de Moscoso Osorio y Álvarez de Toledo. As you continue, you will then see the Pazo de Raxoi (the Palace) located on the square in front of the Cathedral De Santiago de Compostela. Here, you will see Neoclassical architecture dating back to the 18th century. You will walk through the Praza do Obradoiro, the main square in the Old Town. Here you will notice four important buildings being the Cathedral, a 16th century Hospital which is now a hotel, the Palace and university known as Colexio de San Xerome. Visit the monastery Monastery of San Martiño Pinario. The origins date back to the Chapel dedicated to Santa Maria which was here in the 9th century. One of the most attractive features you wil see here is the main altarpiece. Next, you will see the Cathedral De Santiago de Compostela, a world heritage site displaying Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic architecture. Finally, you will have the chance to explore the market known as Mercado de Abastos de Santiago. It is famous for its fresh and handmade products.
