Train Information

Train services either on national or local routes are generally very good and reliable and the routes linking the principal centres of population are very scenic. 

A high speed train link (Avant) has finally opened in Galicia which connects La Coruña - Santiago de Compostela - Ourense - Madrid a  €3.3billion investment which means the journey from La Coruña to Ourense now only takes 68 minutes.

 

 

 


La Coruña

Train services are operated by RENFE and FEVE

There are long distance services to Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Paris and Porto.

In addition, there are regular services to Santiago, Vilagarcia de Arousa, Pontevedra, Vigo and Ourense.


Santiago de Compostela

Train services are operated by RENFE

There are long distance services to Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Paris and Porto.

In addition, there are regular services to La Coruna, Vilagarcia de Arousa, Pontevedra, Vigo and Ourense.

There is also a popular tourist service called the Trans Cantabrico Express which travels between Santiago de Compostela and Santander during the period April to October:

Vigo

Galaico Espreso

There is a tourist train which travels along the River Sil valley in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra wine region.  This connects Ourense and Monforte de Lemos two times a day over 50 kilometres in length. 

The Scottish steam locomotive was supplied by the Monforte Railway Museum and can carry 200 people.
