Adega A Coroa
Galicia
A Coroa Winery can be found in the Valdeorras Valley, historically known as the natural gateway to Galicia and geographically as the most in-land part of the autonomous community.
Since the winery was established in 2002 by Angel Lopez and his family, A Coroa have led the way in the area's renewed interest in the Godello grape variety, first grown in the valley by the Romans, over 2000 years ago.
The A Coroa team went further to acknowledge the historical importance of the area when they reconstructed the winery itself from an old Roman edifice and other materials from that time including rock, clay, slate and wood.
Due to the extreme temperatures in the summer, sometimes exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, A Coroa comprises of 10 hectares with sunny hillside vineyards surrounding the winery, rather than near the valley floor.
