Restaurante Alborada
Galicia
If Michelin stars are anything to go by, the Alborada is one of the best restaurants in La Coruña. Alborada was recently awarded the globally recognized achievement and has since worked even harder to turn out the best food for their guests. Given its hefty accolade it is still not dramatically over priced, at only €60 per head for the classic style menu.
There are three different menus, the land, sea and classic. Each has a delectable selection of locally sourced, tasty morsels for the guests, short in length but carefully selected. The seafood is a particularly popular choice as it features everything from grouper, grilled crayfish, scampi and lobster. The meats are also interesting and always tasty. For dessert, it would be a crime to miss the caramelized apple, truly delicious.
There is a good atmosphere inside and a local tip is to try out the new wine bar that has recently opened across the road before your meal. The service is spectacular, and the head waiter Santi is always happy to advise customers on the best meal of the day or find the sommelier who will advise you on the best wine for your dish.
The building was designed to modern standards with architectural features such as the bird nest appearance across the front bay windows - like the design of the stadium at the Beijing Olympics. If you are lucky enough to be seated by the window you will get great views of the estuary outside. However if not, the décor internally is also to a high standard.
