To make a change from sightseeing and beaching while in Galicia, Casa Grande de Xanceda invites visitors to a day at the farm. Located in the village of Xanceda in Mesía, it houses a bunch of 'very happy cows', which produce a variety of organic dairy products.

This family-run farm began its life in the 1960s and is named after the 18th century house located within the grounds. It has a strong eco-policy and was one of the first dairy farms to become organic in Spain. Today, it produces a range of yoghurts, cheeses, butters and milks, all of which are additive free and free from fertilizers. The code-of-conduct ensures that cows are treated properly and production is not forced.

At the farm, visitors are invited to explore all areas on a guided tour, which includes the yoghurt factory, the milking parlour and the eco-zoo. If you can't fit it into your schedule, it's worth checking out the farm via its quirky website, which features a virtual tour of the farm and is packed full of information.
