Pilgrims Museum
Galicia
Despite being a lesser known museum, Museo das Peregrinacions (Museum of Pilgrimage) is well worth the visit for its detailed and touching overview of the pilgrimage phenomenon. Found in Santiago de Compostela, the museum is housed in a 14th century building.
The museum is an excellent opportunity for you to gain a greater understanding of the rich pilgrimage history of Santiago de Compostela and the nature of pilgrimage across all religions, including the history of St James' pilgrimage, on which the city is culminated.
Many artefacts from all corners of the world fill the small museum, including large pieces of archaeology and ancient written works, revealing a concept that is universally explored in many cultures and spiritual practices.
Guides are available and the exhibits have been translated into a number of languages.
Admission is free on Saturdays between 5pm and 8pm, on Sundays, and for children under 18 and senior citizens. Otherwise, there is an entrance fee of 2.40 Euros.
