Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre

Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre is situated in the centre of Monforte de Lemos, which features an old monastery on top of a hill, so there is also plenty to see here. The area is full of natural beauty and landscapes steeped with endless rows of steep vineyards. The best way to view this area is to take one of the boat rides along the river Mino leaving from Belesar dock. Sailing gently between the steep banks, you are treated to views of the vineyards hanging over the edges.

Once you arrive at the wine centre, there are guided tours of both its permanent and temporary exhibitions. These tours can be presented in English if you book in advance.

Whilst you are at the centre there is ample opportunity for you to grab a sample of the wines as well as some tapas, a true example of Galician living. They grow both red and white wines, for every taste. The red grapes are Mencia and the white are a variety called Godello, both uniquely grown in this climate. The Riberia Sacra is a gem in rural Galicia and as the wine is being more widely recognized on the world stage, guest numbers are increasing.
