Sobreiras do Faro
Galicia
Sobreiras do Faro is the first private nature reserve in Galicia. A unique landscape in Galicia,a small, most northern Mediterranean cork forest in Europe, that the Viladesuso Woodland Owners Association are trying to recover for the benefit of neighboring visitors and future generations. This also includes the River Broi, and in addition some other important areas along the coast in the parish of Villadesuso.
The walk commences at various points either just above Casas do Sobral in the highest part of Viladesuso or alternatively lower down in Viladesuso next to Budiño de Serraseca. The most dramatic starting point is high up the mountain above the horse ranch El Picadero where there is a small car park and sign.
A circular walk will take about an hour although the terrain is quite steep in places. There are dramatic views of the mountains and sea. Places to stay include Casas de Sobral, another casa rural, Budiño de Serraseca both in Viladesuso. Other places nearby include Hotel Glagow in Santa Maria de Oia, O Penasco and Talaso Atlantico near Mougas. Aguncheiro is very cheap alternative.
The best places to eat are Restaurante Casas do Sobral, Porto Los Barcos,Hotel Glasgow, A Camboa or Talaso Atlantico. All these establishments are featured on the website in the Restaurants Category.
