Deep in the land of Ribeira Sacra close to the sacred banks of the River Sil at the heart of which lies the pretty village of Sober the annual wine fiesta of Amandi is celebrated on 31 March and 1 April.About 25 winerys participate in the event housed in a giant marquee including Regina Viarum, Don Bernardino and Adega Algeira where you can try their great reds (mencias) some oak matured and tast white godello. There is free wine tasting and exhibits including local artisan products like Rectoral de Gundivós to promote the superb but relatively unknown wine area with a great future. You can eat in the local bars and restaurants as well as at a stand. There is also music at nightime including groups,bands and orchestras and a prizes for the best wines. This festival is a great way to get to know the area, its wine and culture and to mix with the local residents
