As Laxas Wine Cellars (Bodega) which is a small family owned business, is located in the parish of Arbo on the banks of the River Mino where wines have been produced on the estate since the close of the19th century.
The vines are influenced by the humid winds from the unspoilt Atlantic Ocean and combined with warm,intense sunlight that capriciously caresses this aristocratic fruit among grapes: albariño. This is a land of remarkable beauty and rural tranquility in a steep terraced landscape facing south,overlooking the majestic River Mino.
Despite the rural isolation the wine cellar has the most up to date equipment for making and bottling wines,to ensure excellence is achieved in all products. 500,000 bottles are produced alot of for export to countries such as the United States of America and the United Kingdom. One of the most famous wines produced is Laxas which comprises of grapes exclusively from the sub-zone of Condado del Tea. This is a clean,bright wine,straw yellow in colour with greenish sparkles. An intense aroma on the nose,perfectly blending with the fruity and floral notes,highlighting apple and stone bearing fruits such as apricots. Typical freshness of albariño on the palate,with a highly fitting acidity perfectly balanced with the structure and body of the wine.
Other wines include Bagoa do Mino, Val do Sosego and Condado. The winery has also introduced a new sparkling wine called Sensum Laxas. A range of licquers are also produced including augardiente,coffee,herbal and toasted liqueurs.
